Dream YSL Pumps: The look for less?

31 Mar

It’s no news that I’ve had a long standing crush on YSL pumps, especially the Cobalt blue suede. At over £400 a pop, it’s understandable why i haven’t stocked up on all the beautiful colours of this beloved shoe.

So I stumbled upon these shoes on Asos.com  yesterday. And wow, they present a very convincing alternative to my dream shoes.  At a fraction of the cost, i just might be stocking up on these while I get rich enough to buy my YSLs…and it even comes in Cobalt Blue. Hmmmm….

Paint it Red: Editorial Lurv

30 Mar

Every once in a smoky blue moon, you come across an editorial that stops you in your tracks and has you gaping, totally mesmerized. Sometimes it’s the flawless styling, sometimes it’s the way the beautiful clothes have been interpreted in stunning photography, sometimes it’s just the sheer life, you know, the joie de vivre oozing out of the model, set and pictures.

Well, this is one of those moments, and what has me so wowed this time is the zest, the va va voom and energy of the editorial; plus the focus on vibrant hues of red and pink, major colours for the Spring season.

And of course I spot the resplendent red asymmetrical Lanvin dress, that dress dazzles in every shoot the way it dazzled on the runway. Then the pink fluoro Jil Sander skirt. Too much to love about this editorial.

Don’t be startled by the close up of the model – Carola Remer’s toothy smile, it’s just joy; joy for great fashion, lol.

This splendid work was styled by fashion editor Marie Chaix for the spring summer issue of Self Service.

H&M Spring Campaign featuring Jourdan Dunn

22 Mar

H&M has done a really pretty interpretation of key Spring trends for the high street. For a campaign tagged “Romantic Preppy,” Jourdan Dunn did a lovley job, it’s so good to see her all girly, bubbly and full of smiles, nice departure from the straight faced runway pictures.

All key trends well represented, bright colours, florals, white,  lace, wide leg pants and you bet in prices we all can afford.

See which one you like and pop over to the H&M site to check out what you can get.

Mango’s Spring 2011 Nude Collection

18 Mar

Away from the bold colours making the rounds, neutrals are also a big trend this season; the entire 43 piece Donna Karan Spring collection was in a neutral palette, from shades of beige to camel to tan.

The Mango ‘nude’ collection goes down the same route, complete with camel, tan and brown hues. It still touches on more Spring trends, romantic sheers, mid lengths, florals and platform heels, there was a yellow skinny belt there somewhere, so bright colour trend: check.

Love the tan boxy bag in look 8. You can see the entire collection on the Mango site.

The Trend: Bright Coloured Bags

17 Mar

I’m sure it’s now painfully obvious that I am obsessing over this electric colour trend. It’s reminiscent of how I went on and on about the 50s trend for last Fall, Lol, I wanted it to go on forever. Still love the 50s, Fifties Forever! On trend or not.

Back to the moment, Spring is full of exciting trends, the 70s comeback is absolutely fabulous, Oh the beauty of wide leg pants, blouson sleeved blouses and platforms.

The next best thing is the electric colour trend, this one has completely got my heart; all the vibrant hues, clashing colours and colour blocking = blissful sight. What makes it perfect is that it’s not just with clothes you can rock this trend, there are tons of beautiful accessories, shoes and bags in brilliant, bright colours. So just in case for some weird reason, you’re not jumping on the electric colour train, try out some accessories to give zing to your dark wardrobe palette.

Excellent way to start is with bags; clutches, satchels, hobos, shoulder bags, you have a wide array of options to choose from.

Here’s my fav selection. I want ‘em all by the way

Attention Wedge-a-holics: Julian Louie for ALDO

16 Mar

For all wedge lovers, tis the season to be merry. It’s a wedge fest this season, dozens of styles to choose from. We could go bonkers trying to choose. All thanks to the 70s come back, totally loving this Spring.

There’s been a major buzz around the Julian Louie for ALDO collection and it was officially launched yesterday. You bet it’s coming soon to an ALDO near you and online. The collection features tribal inspired wedges in Cotton ikat and Patchwork suede.

Not for the lily livered fashionista tho, these pieces must appeal to the tribal princess in you. Lol

Keep an eye out for when it starts selling on the ALDO site

Editorial Lurv: Lady Be Good

11 Mar

It’s no news that I’m a die hard lover of all things ladylike, so finding this editorial tagged ‘Lady be Good’ on Vogue.com was pure joy. Featuring the model Amber Valletta alongside her son Auden McCaw (adorable twist), it’s sleek sophistication in the best of Spring fashion by Jil Sander, Dolce & Gabbana, Vera Wang, Oscar de la Renta, Prada and more.

The pink Carolina Herrera silk blouse in the first picture is simply TDF.

There was a generous helping of pieces in one of Spring’s key shades, Tangerine but it was overall a celebration of my best Spring trend, Electric colour. On the look though, this is where fashion is at right now, grown up glamour with a zesty twist.

The shoot was photographed by Steven Klein.

Spring 2011 Fashion Wishlist…been a while

10 Mar

It’s been ages since my last blog post! You bet there was no way that could have been intentional, I totally had to hibernate for reasons I wish were under my control. Sadly, I missed out on my up to the minute Fall Fashion reporting, I was really looking forward to that.

Well, fashion month has ended with the Paris shows and it’s been great fashion and extraordinary street style.

Somewhere in between, the legendary John Galliano got the boot from Dior for ‘crazy drunken’ anti-semitic comments, I saw the video and was horrified! It’s sad though, really sad, we loved him for his theatrical take on fashion. He will be missed.

So, back to Fall 2011 Fashion, i’ll do a round up of my best pieces from the shows this weekend.

In the meantime, I’ve been loving and longing for some key pieces and trends from the amazing Spring 2011 Fashion. I especially love the electric colour trend, I’m really in the mood for some major colour popping. With dresses or accessories.

It’s a never ending list but here are some of my dream must have pieces.
