The Gorge dresses of Anthropologie

26 Apr

Anthropologie will always induce the wows and oohs and aahs with the delicately beautiful dresses they whip out. With names like Sunny Soiree and Summer Souffle, they definitely have the fun and ladylike at heart when designing the dresses. I can’t help but notice the names of these dresses right? Done that on a previous post.

For these picks, i’m loving the vibrant floral print, soft draping and delicate bows. They also would serve as very versatile pieces, from the wedding guest dress to the dinner date to the church dress to the chic girls’ day out.

Anthropologie again is a very worthy favourite label. You should check the site out!

Don’t you just love Burberry Ad Campaigns? So vibrant and alive.  Very interesting too to see the Burberry take on the bright colour trend for Spring.

Red by Valentino Spring 2011 Lookbook

22 Apr

Valentino understands what the girly girl wants. No tough edges or accents, just softness, delicate frills, understatedly elegant classics, very whimsical, very Parisian chic.

There’s a pure beauty about the way they take wardrobe staples and make them into something exquisite by adding frills, bows and soft embellishment. I picked out my favorites from the collection.

The Art of Luxury Time-telling

6 Apr

The world of luxury fashion is one that I find intensely fascinating and so breathtaking. Luxury brand manufacturers take the best materials you can find on this beautiful earth and craft incredible things out of them.

From plush fabrics to diamonds and precious gems, I mean, the earth is full of beautiful things waiting for this type of expression. What’s the point of a diamond in raw form below the earth, when it can be made into a swash buckling Chopard watch?

I think I’m kinda digressing? Lol

So, the biggest and the best watchmakers in the world gathered at the Baselworld Watch and Jewellery Show in Geneva, Switzerland late last month. And you can only imagine what went down, tons of sophisticated collections and innovation.

Check out some of the simply amazing selections from some of our favourite designer names. Please read the descriptions of the watches, so luxuriously poetic, lol.

Doesn’t matter if you can’t get one of ’em, it’s great to admire excellent craftsmanship and the beauty of creative genius.

Dovima with the Elephants

4 Apr

Absolutely love the work of the legendary Richard Avedon, it goes beyond photography and borders on art. Would do a blog post about him soon enough, in the meantime, loving this feature on the amazing ‘Dovima with the elephants’ by Iconic photos.

Dovima with the Elephants Dovima (Dorothy Virginia Margaret Juba) was the model for which the term 'supermodel' was coined. Not only that, she perpetuated that the notion of vacuous blondes. In Egypt, someone asked her what she thought of Africa. To which she replied, "Africa? Who said anything about Africa? This is Egypt." When they explained that Egypt was in Africa, Dovima replied, "I should have charged double rate!" On the same shoot, she brought along a large trunk … Read More
