Elle Singapore’s next season-esque editorial

23 Nov

Elle Singapore totally brings IT with this freshly whimsical editorial. It’s so refreshing when an editor breaks out of the pack and does something different. We were getting lost in the sea of sequins and body con style dresses heralding the December party season. Right now, all the magazines, websites, blogs are awash with sequins and glitter fare, the norm for this time of the year; but someone in Singapore stepped out of the box of glitz.

Aptly tagged Swept Away, it features feminine, whimsical style dresses and an aura more fitting for Spring/Summer. The bright hues, florals and floaty, romantic dresses tick all the next season trend boxes; says Spring 2011 has come early in Elle Singapore.

The brilliant styling was done by Daphne Chen, modelled by Sasha Luss and lensed by Zhang Jingna.

Paris Fashion Week: Elegance connoisseur Elie Saab

7 Oct

Elie Saab is one of my all time best designers. He represents all things feminine, luxe and elegant. I don’t really demand ‘fashion as art’ from Mr Saab, I just love to see him churn out those beautiful, exquisitely crafted dresses. He has an understanding of the female form and he knows how to dress it to sleek perfection, every collection is a celebration of sophistication and class.

For Spring, he touched on all the key trends, 70s inspiration, tailoring, sheers, prints, colour, but it was all very RTW.

As with typical Elie Saab, there were more pieces for evening/red carpet but just enough for work, play, laid back days. Either way, for every scenario the Elie Saab woman is oozing elegance.

Milan Fashion Week: Jil Sander dresses up the Tee

28 Sep

Inspired by haute couture, Jil Sander displayed an elegant twist to wearing the basic t-shirt. Also in line with the ‘bright colours’ trend that has taken the runways for Spring/Summer 2011. Love it because its different, fresh and vibrant. It does come across as stylish and chic, a sure head turner. Lets see if this takes off as mainstream fashion.

LFW: Colour Cocktail at Issa

22 Sep

It was an elegant colour fest at Issa and i looooooved it! The collection was inspired by designer Daniella Issa Helayel’s visit to India and her fascination with the bright colourful saris won by Indian women.

I love the jewel tones, crispy whites, pretty pinks and all the colour clashing. The generous draping, figure skimming styles looked absolutely elegant on the models. A very chic way to rock vibrant colours. Really really fun, a feast for the girly at heart. Here are my favs from the collection
