This is one dress that quickens my pulse race. Ticks all the boxes for fifties ladylike chic, which happens to be right up my alley. It’s a dress to have and to hold.
You can snap one up for £170 from the French Connection site

Anthropologie is the best stop for the most beautiful, ladylike, whimsical dresses you can find. I was completely bowled over by this exquisite lace number. It stands out from the pack of black lace dresses lining the shops this season and it will remain a classic even when the trend phases out.
And there are even more beautiful dresses from where that came from
And this waistcoat? with its waterfall ruffles? It’s to die for. The name it was given couldn’t be more apt.
You should drop by the site www.anthropologie.eu or check out the stores in London at W1B and SW3
These items could easily pass off as wearable art. Simply breathtaking laser cut pieces from the Asos Black collection, especially love the dress.
Maybe it’s the effect of seeing it every where, on the runway, in shops, online; or maybe it’s because I’m a bit more open these days but me, the self-confessed hater of all things animal print, seem to be falling for it.
Animal print is one of those trends that keep recurring every few years, reinvented but animal print quite alright. This season it’s made a pretty sleek chic come back and with designers like Louis Vuitton, Burberry Prorsum and Blumarine featuring it in Spring 2011, it just might be around for a while. Good thing too because it looks like we’ve finally figured out how to wear it and look chic.
The basic rule is to keep it simple, let the animal print do the talking and keep accessories and all other items as plain as possible, else you’ll risk looking like something out of national geographic.
For wary but attracted fans like me, the secret is to introduce a little piece of leopard print into your outfit, could be a bag, shoe, scarf or possibly part of a dress? Well, i found the perfect dress on asos.com
I like that it combines all the essential girly elements, sheer, frills and of course animal print. Paired with 6 inch high black or nude pumps, a tote in similar colour and we are on our way! It can also be dressed up or down with the right accessories. Stellar style piece.
Elie Saab is one of my all time best designers. He represents all things feminine, luxe and elegant. I don’t really demand ‘fashion as art’ from Mr Saab, I just love to see him churn out those beautiful, exquisitely crafted dresses. He has an understanding of the female form and he knows how to dress it to sleek perfection, every collection is a celebration of sophistication and class.
For Spring, he touched on all the key trends, 70s inspiration, tailoring, sheers, prints, colour, but it was all very RTW.
As with typical Elie Saab, there were more pieces for evening/red carpet but just enough for work, play, laid back days. Either way, for every scenario the Elie Saab woman is oozing elegance.
