Love, Want, Need: Spring 2011 Style Pieces

11 Jan

Spring 2011 fashion has started hitting stores, with all the last season sales fever dwinding down.

I am especially loving the electric colour – pinks, blues, orange, green, think colours of the rainbow almost –  and 70s inspired trends – wide leg pants, wedges, wide brim hats. It’s going to be fun for fashion, already looking forward to all the street style pics.

I’ve just made an early pick of my (mainly designer) faves, watch this space for high street alternatives of these trends.

Style Statement: Tailored Wide Leg Pants

20 Oct

The wide leg pants made a come back on the runways with Fall 2010. It was actually the season of tailored evening pants, with peg legs, straight pants; all quickly giving the dear dowdy harem pants a boot.

These tailored pants are beautiful because they give you a polished, sleek chic look. I particularly love the high waisted, wide legs, not only do they minimise the bum but they give a super leg lengthening effect, particularly when paired with skyscraper heels.

And they won’t be going anywhere soon, they were all over the runways for Spring 2011, inspired by the seventies. I found an interesting piece on NY Times Fashion & Style talking about how to wear this look. Got me thinking about how i’d wear it.

Look 1 would be wool and silk blend top tucked into high waist wide leg pants,  high heels and bag; finished off with gold plated cuffs

Look 2 is more formal, wide leg pants worn with white shirt and plaid jacket, with my favourite bag du jour and high heels of course
